Broadway In Columbus!
In the circle of life, you never know what will come around to you!
Ellen Weber, a 2002 Graduate of the esthetics program at the Spa School,
recently was honored with being asked to be the principle makeup artist to
character of young Simba for the stage production of "The Lion King" on tour in
Columbus for a 6 week stint. This has been quite a learning experience for Ellen!
The fast paced, "no room for error" atmosphere of live performance adds an element of excitement to this position. Each performance requires Ellen to be timely, precise and consistent with her makeup application. Ellen feels fortunate to have landed such a prestigious "gig" since only two local professionals were asked to supply their makeup artistry. Her words of advice for other aspiring estheticians is simple..."be open to all possibilities, never be shy about networking in this industry. I was referred for this position because I am in constant contact with other beauty industry professionals as well as the staff at my former school, the Spa School.
After recently leaving a position in a salon I put the word out that I was looking for a new opportunity. When the staff of Broadway in Columbus were looking to fill this position, they contacted the Spa School, who in turn referred them to me. It NEVER hurts to sell yourself!! A great education certainly is critical in this industry but you also must sell yourself. You cannot be shy or afraid to talk about your strengths. You never know when word of mouth will land you your next job!"
Hakuna matata, Ellen!
